Taking on a Tampa Bay team, below .500, the Tigers looked like they were off to a good start, Tuesday night. Miguel Cabrera got the Tigers on the board, right in the 1st with a deep home run to center. Unfortunately, that would be the only run scored by the Tigers. A two run shot from Beckham to left, would put the Rays in the lead in the 3rd: a lead which they would only add onto in later innings.

Michael Fulmer had a strong outing for the Tigers, giving up 3 runs in 6 innings, on 6 hits with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. But it was the work of Matt Andriese that kept the Tigers off the scoreboard, for the bulk of the game. In six innings of work, Andriese only gave up four hits. Rays relievers would take over in the 7th, and only gave up one hit between them. The Rays would pad their lead in the 7th, scoring two runs on Kyle Ryan. While the Tigers did have some good swings for outs, they never managed to get any serious threat going. The Tigers would quietly fall to the Rays, 5-1.

Justin Upton would leave the game in the 7th after suffering hard wrist to wrist contact at second base. Tuesday marked Miguel Cabrera’s 34th birthday.

With the loss, the Tigers fall to 8-5. The Tigers get another shot at the Rays, both Wednesday and Thursday night. In our next game match up, Jordan Zimmerman will face off against Tampa Bay Ray, Chris Archer. Coverage begins at 6:45, Wednesday night on 95.3 WBCK.
