It was a tale of two teams, Sunday afternoon, when it came to Tiger’s pitching. In fact, it took seven innings for Tiger hitters to break up opposing White Sox pitcher, Miguel Gonzalez’s perfect game. Gonzalez went 18 up and 18 down, before a single put Romine on first, and Miguel Cabrera singled in the Tiger’s first run.

On the other side of the ball, in spite of a promising beginning, it proved to be a rough outing for Jordan Zimmerman who gave up three home runs in the 3rd, 4th and 5th before being relieved by Warwick Saupold in the 6th. Tigers would trail the Sox, leaving the 7th,   7-1. Tiger hitters would make things interesting in the 8th, with a pair of doubles from Upton and Presley, and a triple from Romine, scoring two. In the 9th, Cabrera would get on base, after being hit by a pitch and Mahtook would make it to first on an error. However, Chicago reliever David Robertson would take over and record the final two outs, on just three pitches. The Tigers lose 7-3.

In five innings of throwing, Zimmerman would give up 7 runs on 8 hits, with 3 strikeouts and 1 walk. Tigers were outhit by the Sox 10 to 6. A half hour rain delay was called in the Top of the 4th. At the time, the Tigers trailed 3-0, and Zimmerman had only given up one home run.

With the loss, the Sox take the series from Detroit, 3 games to 1, and the Tigers fall 4 games below the .500 mark. The Tigers will put Chicago in their rear view, on Monday, as they head to Kansas City. Monday night’s matchup will put Daniel Norris(2-3  4.38) up against Royals starter Jason Hammel(1-6  5.98 ERA). Our coverage begins at 6:50 PM, on 95.3 WBCK.
